                       About Us

We know that our office is only as effective and welcoming as the people who work in it, which is why we take pride in our friendly, well-trained staff members! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment in a supportive, nurturing environment. We promise to speak candidly with you about possible treatments as well as any risks and associated costs of treatment, and how treatment can address your individual needs.

Stephen A. Asam, D.D.S.

Dr. Asam has been providing outstanding dental care for his patients since 1990. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Hampden-Sydney College and attended the Medical College of Virginia, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1989. Committed to continuing education, Dr. Asam maintains memberships with the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and the Tidewater Dental Association.

He is active in his community, having volunteered his services at the Chesapeake Care Free  Clinic as a sitting member of the board of directors, a volunteer treating patients, and as an adjunct professor mentoring fourth-year dental students from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. He also volunteers every year with the VDA sponsored Mission of Mercy project, which provides free dental care to thousands of Virginians throughout the state.

During his leisure time, Dr. Asam enjoys gardening and fishing. He and his wife, Sharon, have lived in Chesapeake for the past 28 years and have two beautiful children, Christian and Caroline. And, of course, let's not forget their pug, Dermott.

Jill

Office Manager

I have been in the dental field for over 38 years. I graduated from dental assisting school in 1980 and started my profession as an assistant for 16 years. I then became the Purchasing Coordinator for a large practice for 13 years. In 2009, I began working as a hygiene assistant and took on some administrative duties in a smaller practice. It is then that I realized my talents and interest for the administrative aspects of the practice. I joined Dr. Asam's team in 2010 as his Office Manager. I enjoy working with our patients to help them through their treatment and help the process run smoothly. In my time away from the office, I like gardening and spending time with family.

Kim

Business Administrator

I started my Dental Career in 2005 as a Dental Assistant. My current position is a Front Desk Administrator. I am looking forward to getting acquainted with all of the patients and making sure everyone receives quality care. I feel grateful to be a part of Dr. Asam's exceptional team. When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking and riding my bike.

Kelley

Hygienist

I have been a dental hygienist for 12 years. I graduated from Old Dominion University School of Dental Hygiene in 2004. Aside from a brief stay after school in the Shenandoah Valley, I enjoyed finding a permanent home with Dr. Asam's office. I love getting to know my patients and educating them on ways to achieve optimal dental health. I reside in Great Bridge with my three sons. In my spare time, I enjoy the beach, live music and camping.

Joanna

Hygienist

After being a stay-at-home mom to my son and twin daughters I returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Old Dominion University. I have graciously been a part of Dr. Asam's team since 2014 and have enjoyed getting to know our patients in this close-knit practice. Individualized patient education and maintaining comfort are the most important aspects to me in caring for one's oral health. While born a Jersey girl, I have lived in Virginia since 1993 and have been in Great Bridge since 2008. I enjoy time with my family, our two cats, doing yoga, playing pool, going to concerts, the
beach, and up to the mountains.

Lisa

Dental Assistant

I have been a Dental Assistant for 27 years. I graduated from the Dental Assistant Program at Langley Air Force Base, I earned my Dental Certification through DANB, Dental Assistant National Boards. Since traveling around with my husband with the United States Air Force, my family finally settled here in Moyock, NC. I am so grateful that I have found A dental family, working side by side with Dr. Asam and the team. When not working I enjoy spending time at home with my family. And we love beach time in the summer and time with friends.
